EATING NOURISHED As you start reading this book, I am going to ask you first to pause, close your eyes, and say the word “food.”
As you say it, notice what comes up for you. Notice how you feel in your body: There might be a sensation that rises in your stomach, throat, or chest. What does it feel like? You don’t need to do anything about the feeling. This is how you’ll start to get familiar with the way or ways the subject of food resonates for you. You may experience feelings of longing, fear, and anxiety, feelings of comfort and happiness, or a mixture. It’s normal to have strong and even contradictory sensations about something so central to our lives. So what feelings come up for you when you think about food?
